If you ask Zoran Nova, growing up as a twin in Sydney’s inner suburbs was the driving force at an early age to be unique in his own right. Over the years Zoran has broken away from the mould and asserted his own flare to the artistic world. His background in design has put him in good stead as an up coming designer, artist and illustrator on the booming Australian art and design scene.

ROBOSONIC “SWEET AND NUTS”
In Emerging Artist, Music on 28 diciembre 2011 at 10:09

Robosonic celebrate the end of 2011 with a release on Jackmode, „The Sweetness” (which includes a bassheavy remix by J. Phlip of Dirtybird and Pets Recordings fame), a videomashup to the original track and a mixalbum entitled „Sweet and Nuts“.
The Jackmode release marks a special moment in Robosonic‘s eventful journey, which in early 2012 will be spanning 6 years; the boys haven‘t released any original material since their critically acclaimed debut album „Sturm und Drang“ and vinyl EPs (with album tracks and remixes by the likes of Jesse Rose, Santiago & Bushido, Koletzki & Meindl, Deo & Z-Man, Christopher Just and more) on their own label between 2007 and 2009.
Instead, Robosonic have been drawn towards the dancefloor and performed countless gigs – both at their homebase Berlin and worldwide – making a name for themselves as a seasoned DJ duo which has a lot of fun rocking exciting sets of heavily danceable, norm-defying electronic music in clubs and at numerous festivals morning, day, and night, often taking their crowd on a musical trip of epic proportions.
To commemorate their sucessful year and a return to a more production-focused career, Robosonic present the mixalbum „Sweet and Nuts“. This one hour mix of music contains nothing but new and 100% original Robosonic tracks and remixes (J. Phlip, Antonio Olivieri), some still unsigned and – – for your exclusive preview – – some which are soon to be released.
Go ahead and join the celebration party by grabbing the „Sweet and Nuts“ mixalbum! –> DOWNLOAD

GEOFFREY CHADSEY
In illustration on 27 diciembre 2011 at 8:46You got to love the work of Geoffrey Chadsey!
His drawings are made with water-soluble colored pencil on mylar and undeniably stand out with their many fine lines which make the objects look like topographical maps where every bump, fold and bend is carefully examined.
PAKAYLA BIEHN
In Emerging Artist, Paintings on 26 diciembre 2011 at 9:39Nop, these are not photographs, they are paintings. Pakayla Biehn is the artist who has created them and she uses her friends and colleagues as models. The first step in her work process is experimenting with double and sometimes triple exposure photographs which she then transfer onto the canvas and the result is beautiful photorealistic paintings as seen above. Pure love…

INTERVIEW WITH INGACIO TORRES
In Interview, Photography on 19 diciembre 2011 at 7:36When I first saw ‘Stellar’ I knew I had stumbled across a little bit of pixie dust. And dust it was (although mixed with confetti) as I later found out when I started to read about this series of mind-boggling animated GIFs. The artist behind it is called Ignacio Torres, a Texas-born photographer and filmmaker who set out to visualize the theory that ‘all humans are made of cosmic matter as a result of a star’s death’. RICHARD MOSSE
In Photography on 15 diciembre 2011 at 7:03The amazing photos you see up here are not the result of Photoshop but were made with infrared aerial surveillance film, originally developed for military reconnaissance. They were taken by Richard Mosse, a 30-year-old photographer from Ireland who chose to use this film out of its normal context in order to explore how photography represents a place like Congo, a country ridden by conflict and war. Infrared light is invisible to the human eye, and so the work alludes metaphorically to the conflict’s lack of visibility in our global consciousness, as well as (paradoxically) this endless war’s over-saturation in the mass media.
BETHAN LAURA WOOD
In 1, Design on 14 diciembre 2011 at 10:01British designer Bethan Laura Wood studied 3D Design at the University of Brighton and subsequent from the Royal College of Art, where she studied Product Design. Simultaneously, she set up her own practice, WOOD London, designing and producing a range of objects, from jewellery to ceramics, as well as large-scale interventions and collaborative projects. She is interested in the relationship between the user and the object, particularly in why people discard or hold onto objects, creating products that explore how different attributes of the mundane can be celebrated and rediscovered.
By the way…if you like design, she is looking for interns at the moment!
MY LITTLE DEAD DICK
In Photography on 13 diciembre 2011 at 8:38The My little Dead Dick is the name Taiwanese-American Patrick Tsai and Chinese Madi Ju photo diary which lasted from the summer of 2006 to the summer of 2007 – exactly one year from the first day they met. Patrick Tsai and Madi Ju continued working and living together until their break-up which happened on the same day as the big earthquake in Western China in the summer of 2008. Today they are both renown photographers with different individual projects, but to me this is still the most beautiful thing they’ve ever done.
