RYAN MCGINLEY
In Photography on 16 febrero 2012 at 9:03Youth, liberation and the joy of losing yourself in the moment are elements that feature throughout American photographer Ryan McGinley’s work, from his early roots in documenting the urban adventures of his downtown Manhattan friends to his subsequent cross-country travels in utopian environments throughout America to his most recent studio portraits. McGinley’s elaborate and rigorous process of photo-making creates moments of breathtaking beauty: naked feral kids poised in ecstatic abandon. The lack of clothing and other contemporary signifiers along with the archetypical landscapes give the photos a sense of timelessness in which the viewer can project his or her own story.

ULRIKA KESTERE
In Photography on 8 febrero 2012 at 8:30Latvian photographer and illustrator Ulrika Kestere is the creator of ‘The Girl With 7 Horses’, an enchanting photographic fairytale that goes like this: Once upon a time there was a girl who had 7 invisible horses. People thought she was crazy and that she in fact had 7 imaginative horses, but this was not the case. When autumn came the girl spent a whole day washing all her clothes. She hung them on a string in her garden to let the gentle autumn sun dry them. Out of nowhere, a terrible storm came and its fiercefull winds grabbed a hold of all her clothes and all seven horses (authors note: since they are invisible they obviously didn’t weigh much). The girl was devistated and spent all autumn looking for each horse spread around the country, wrapped in her clothes.
Make sure to visit Kestere’s blog to see the rest of her charming horses.
